The Khaita Tibetan Annual Festival showcases aspects of Tibetan culture on the Sunshine Coast.
It's on the 29th September at the Maleny Community Centre from 11am to 3:30pm and is a free event.. There will be plenty of Tibetan food to enjoy and complimentary Tibetan tea.

The mission of the Khaita Tibetan Annual Festival is to carry on the legacy and inspiration of the internationally recognized teacher, Professor Namkhai Norbu ( Chögyal Namkhai Norbu ). By organizing and promoting various cultural activities related to his life's work, we aim to support the individual and social evolution of humanity in harmony with our environment.

This festival provides the Sunshine Coast community with opportunities to participate in Tibetan culture through Khaita songs, dance, art and Yantra yoga, a particularly ancient form of yoga which harmonises breath and movement. All of the activities aim to enrich our lives, but they are plenty of fun at the same time! And you can keep the fun alive all year round with the program of courses and retreats available at Namgyalgar at the Glasshouse Mountains.

Topgyal Gontse is the driving force behind the festival. Topgyal moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2015 and has been actively involved in many cultural events. Working with the International Dzogchen Community and International Shang Shung Institute Australia, Topgyal has been planning the Khaita Festival for the past two years. Topgyal said that “The Khaita activities have been featured at other multicultural festivals on the Sunshine Coast but this is the first year that the Khaita Tibetan Festival has been held to showcase solely the Tibetan Culture”.
