Midsumma Festival

Have you ever wanted to explore and develop your inner Drag King? As a Midsumma Festival exclusive, internationally acclaimed performance artist Sexy Galexy will guide you through a one day workshop where not only will you have a backstage pass into the world of being a Drag King, but you will also have the opportunity to showcase your new or developed alter ego in a Cabaret Showcase that night at Melbourne’s only Drag Cabaret Theatre Venue, Vau D’Vile.

Under the guidance of Sexy and his assistants, the participants will explore the four essentials of the craft:

1) Makeup application - product choice; how to use creams and powders to shade and highlight; facial hair painting
2) Customising your costume - personalising garments with adornments; styling for your character
3) “Package” making - no description required here really!
4) Character development - assistance with breaking down of character; performance coaching

At the end of the day there is no pressure to put on a performance - after all you may just want to suit up, stache on and show off your swagger - however if the stage is your desire, then an audience you must have! Family and friends, queers and dears are all invited to this King Cabaret Showcase to cheer you on with tickets available pre-sale as well as at the door. Workshop graduates will each receive a complimentary ticket.
Upon event registration, the attendee will be informed of what is required for participation. The workshop is suitable for the very beginner right up to a performer wanting to up skill and is non-gender specific so however you identify, you are most welcome.
