Lafayette, is a show which explores the rich sounds of Cajun music from deep Louisiana, and draws on the origins of this glorious French-speaking culture. Emma, who is half-French/half-Australian is no stranger to examining her French heritage, after touring the world (opening for Tommy Emmanuel among others) on the back of her debut album of chansons, La Musique (ABC/Universal).
This show is lead by an amazing band and will feature Emma's dazzling solo's on accordion and piano, the magical sounds of George Washingmachine's formidable fiddle, accompanied by a groovin' rhythm section as they belt out the punchy songs of Clifton Chenier, Dr. John and Hank Williams.
Emma’s dynamic voice wails over her gritty accordion riffs, followed by the bands' virtuoso musicianship. This night will conjure up raucous music houses of the Deep South as you are compelled to move to a Cajun waltz or feverish two-step.
George Washingmachine is an entertainer. He works mainly in the jazz world and plays jazz violin and sings and sometimes plays the guitar and double bass. George tours regularly in Europe appearing at festivals in France, Switzerland & The UK.
