Emotionworks Cut Opera proudly presents ‘La Traviata Stripped and Dressed in Jazz and Blues’ in the upstairs showroom at Melbourne’s iconic and sumptuous table top dancing club, The Men’s Gallery (outside of clubs operating hours). This is opera fusion, cut down to 90 minutes and integrated with great jazz and blues standards.

This production portrays the effects of the 'oldest profession' by presenting this much loved opera classic in a real life contemporary setting—adding power to a progressive message. The Men’s Gallery is the perfect set location for this cabaret burlesque style production and story about a sex worker. It is the story of a famous prostitute Violetta finding love for the first time and surviving in a harsh world in which virtue is often found where we least expect it. The infused songs echo and highlight the strong emotional sentiments throughout the story. This show is fast-moving, sad, funny, dramatically poignant and with a surprise at every turn.

Award winning director and creator Julie Edwardson has put together a strong cast starring soprano Alexandra Ioan as the gorgeous Violetta, Tenor Jason Wasley as the love struck Alfredo, and David Skewes as the formidable father Germont. The show also features fabulous jazz and blues performers referencing some of history’s most famous female icons, the Cut Opera House Combo and Special Guest clothed pole dancing extraordinaire "Jewel". Performances are outside the clubs normal operating hours. No under 18’s permitted and there is no nudity or explicit sex scenes.
