A funny, vivacious, new show inspired by real stories from Aussie summer days where friends reminisce about the simpler times.

Ladies of the Bay is a fun, vivacious, new piece of theatre inspired by real stories created by Jennifer Monk and Girls Act Good (GAG). GAG is an all female ensemble of actors, writers, directors, producers and designers based in Melbourne. The focus of GAG is providing creative opportunities to women and giving a voice to people and their stories that normally go unheard and unnoticed.

Over the summer Jennifer interviewed women from rural Victoria and Melbourne about their experiences growing up in the Australian summer.

"The play is 90% material and stories that have come from these women’s stories and lives! There were 19 women who were interviewed and we condensed the story to focus on four characters. The stories from all these interviewed women have been merged into four new character’s; Tracy, Nat, Fiona and Naomi, but still these are the stories from real people." - Jennifer Monk

After a successful creative development with the Clocktower Centre Studio Residency Program this reminiscent new work based on real stories has emerged. Ladies of the Bay focuses on four women who are hanging out at the local caravan park. They have shared extreme tragedies and still find triumph in their experiences. Exploring private female moments including relationships, love, secrets, disasters and grief this show will take you laughing and crying back to your own summers. Sometimes all we have are the memories.

Performers: Lisa Dallinger, Kelley Kerr Young, Lee McClenaghan, Jennifer Monk
Director: Jennifer Monk
Assistant Director: Constance Washington
