Professional Wrestling will be coming to Penrith Gaels Cultural and Sporting Association for the first time with local promotion Wrestle Strong Dojo in partnership with the charity Fighters Against Abuse Australia, putting on an afternoon of fun for the whole family.

Owner of Wrestle Strong Dojo Lisa says that she’s excited for the opportunity for the pro wrestlers that have been attending classes at the dojo in Werrington Downs to showcase their skills and entertain the local crowd. The wrestlers have experience ranging from 6 months to 23yrs and the wrestlers’ backgrounds also include a variety of martial arts including BJJ, Hapkido and Muay Thai.

The founder and president of Fighters Against Child Abuse Australia (FACAA) Charity Adam Washbourne a BJJ black belt, martial arts coach and professional wrestler will be competing in the heavyweight tournament against Dean Draven from Penrith, a 23yr veteran of the sport. Adam states: “I see a chance to raise awareness of the fight to end child abuse and bring some gold back to the kids of the FACAA.”

F.A.C.A.A was founded to provide support and advocacy for the victims of child abuse. FACAA helps children who have survived child abuse through the use of counselling and mentoring programs. They utilise job search training and life coaching for older survivors. They also put survivors into fully sponsored martial arts training at preapproved martial arts centres under fully approved instructors. They also have court escort programs for those prosecuting their abusers and run teenage anti-bullying programs inside high schools.

One wrestler set to make her debut at Penrith Gaels is Hapkido Black belt and Jujitsuist Rebecca of Werrington. Wrestling under the name Rebecca Rumble, Rebecca switched to Professional Wrestling this year and has been enjoying the challenge of the transition. Rebecca stated “I’m very excited to debut on the 28th of July. I believe my fighting and grappling experience will definitely be shown during the match. Come and watch rumble be a whole different kind of animal” Rebecca added with a laugh coining the catch phrase she likes to use in the ring.

Over 2 hours of fun exciting matches for the whole family to watch. 1:30pm doors open for a 2pm start. Tickets can be purchased online through Moshtix.

Links and further information can also be found through the Dojo’s Facebook page. Some tickets will also be available at the door.
