Formed in 1996 by Sam Keevers, Los Cabrones is established as Australia's hottest Latin jazz ensemble. The band was an instant success, packing the place with dancers and listeners for their weekly gig at the Night Cat in Fitzroy. They were soon in demand for festival gigs at Wangaratta, Sydney, Adelaide and beyond—even in New Caledonia and China.

The band drew inspiration from (and played some material by) Latin jazz masters like Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, and Poncho Sanchez, but has gone on to develop a mostly-original repertoire that is faithful to their chosen idiom.

Los Cabrones was formed by pianist Sam Keevers (who has worked with artists like Vince Jones, Kate Ceberano, The Black Arm Band and Jamie Oehlers, as well his own Nonet and his quartet, Red Fish Blue). The band includes some of Melbourne's leading jazz players and a bevy of expert percussionists and vocalists drawn from Melbourne's Hispanic communities.

Matt Jodrell, Paul Williamson (trumpet), Ben Gillespie (trombone), Phil Noy (alto sax), Julien Wilson (tenor sax), Paul Williamson (baritone sax), Craig Fermanis (guitar), Sam Keevers (piano), Javier Fredes (timbales), Felipe Cornejo (congas), Leo Salvo and Luis Poblete (vocals and percussion), Ryan Menezes (drums).
