Machine Machine:

This Narrative begins on a brisk winter afternoon. The sun was shining bright despite the thick, voluptuous clouds abrazen in the sky often keeping its light hidden away—the UV radiation was not going to tamper with anyones skin that day. Sitting at a desk in a local high school in the far reaches of North Queensland were three high-strung boys twiddling their thumbs and dreaming of adventure - Lyle B, Riley and Chris Jackson. Unlike many other occasions sitting through another inattentive period of education, they were fixated on their computer screens discovering new music to feed their hungry souls. This was their passion, their desire—their love. But it was this very day however, that a sudden spark, an idea, came across the boys that would change their lives and the very fabric of their destinies forever. The idea came to life and they said: “Lets form a band.”

And that, ladies, and gentlemen, is how the band—now known as Machine Machine—emerged from an idea and became a reality. The three passionate delinquents began (attempting) to make tunes on the daily, picking up their chosen instruments and joining forces on a quest with no foreseeable conclusion. The sun remained light and bright in the jungles of Far Northern Australia yet the clouds, though appearing slimmer, hadn’t moved much from their seemingly permanent allocations.

No one will ever know for how long the clouds remained stuck in their places, nor for how long the band remained a three-piece—no one can remember. But ultimately it is of little importance. Because as it now stands Machine Machine, will forever and always be a mighty foursome; ever since the unforgettable time the OG three ‘auditioned’ that crazy rascal, Dylan V. As he swaggered through the doors to the jam space with his curly hair blowing in the wind, an amp in one hand and a guitar in the other—the air in the room felt like electricity. He became the fourth member instantly (and you know, his guitar playing was alright too).

Without a moments hesitation, the clouds vanished. No more was the sun covered up and allowed to remain shy. That star was exposed to the entire world once again, ready to flash its glorious light upon the masses. Was it the formation of MM that cleared the skies or was it just strange weather patterns not uncommon for that area? It is unknown.

Kurilpa Reach:
Coming out of a shed in moorooka to your selector's sound system, five flashy fellas with some fully fabulous beats.

Shadows Without Substance:
Shadows Without Substance was originally formed with a sense of urgency. They had no members, no fans, no songs, no name and a gig within a month. Within 3 weeks they formed a literal band of misfits, wrote 6 songs, picked a name and practiced their asses off for that first Ric’s gig.

With a handful of melancholic songs with equally suggestive titles and 6-months on from that first gig, they released their debut single ‘Going Down’ in November 2018.

This band has evolved from a group of shy individuals to the kind of family you would complain about at a fancy restaurant for being too loud. While the band sees themselves as your typical mid-20s tragics, they love nothing more than making music without restrictions that is important to them and, hopefully, to the listener.

May 2019 will see the release of their second single ‘Vortex’ as well as the commencement of an interstate tour running through to June 2019 and ending with an EP launch back in their home town of Brisbane.
