Do you love the idea of making your own special garden totem ornament for your home? Then this workshop is just for you. Students will learn learn basic clay handbuilding skills (no pottery wheel) designing and shaping elements for your garden totem. Your design could be organic or be based on items that particular meaning to you and your family, or even animal, vegetable or mineral! It’s entirely up to you. Students are encouraged to bring along some ideas (images or sketches) of ideas for their totem or we can help you with some inspiration.

No prior experience is necessary.

You will need to attend 4 sessions in the studios. The course structure is as follows:

Stage 1 - Making Saturday 13 April and Sunday 14 April 2019 (2 sessions). These sessions are devoted to designing and making the pieces for your totem. Art Est. will dry and kiln fire the pieces ready for the next session.
Stage 2 - Glazing Sunday 5 May 2019. This session is when you will use our glazes to decorate and colour your totem elements. Art Est will then glaze fire your pieces.

Classes for Everyone in Sydney’s Inner West

Art Est. offers a boutique learning experience for adults, teens and children. Located in a spacious, light-filled heritage warehouse, with four dedicated teaching studios, an art gallery and a new ceramics studio. Our class sizes are kept to only 10–12 students (8 for wheel throwing pottery), ensuring each student receives the individual tuition they need.

Art classes for adults are available weekdays, evenings and Saturday mornings. We also have a great range of single day weekend art workshops available, a perfect option for visitors to Sydney looking for things to do, or for someone who doesn’t have time to commit to a term class.

Kids and Teens can build their creative skills at our after school and Saturday term classes as well as our school holiday workshops each and every holiday.
