Masters of Vienna Dramatically Brought to Life

Thrill to Haydn and Schubert masterpieces. Delight in their well-known masses, and be dazzled by soloists Jacqueline Porter, Margaret Orr, Timothy Reynolds, and Nathan Lay. This fabulous concert showcases works of Franz Josef Haydn and Franz Schubert.

The popular Mass in Time of War is Haydn's response to the threat of the Napoleonic forces on Austria's doorstep. This lyrical work is enhanced through the dramatic use of timpani. Mass in A flat Major is Schubert's rarely performed but stunningly beautiful work, completed when he was only 25 years old, it has been described as the most profound of all his masses, showing his great genius for melody.
