The MINI British Film Festival returns to present the best of contemporary and classic British films. The programme includes some of the most awaited new releases, a retrospective on Dame Helen Mirren and some restored gems.
The Festival will open with a screening of Military Wives; directed by Peter Cattaneo (The Full Monty), starring Kristen Scott Thomas this is an inspiring drama about the bravery of the women of war and the power of the music that saved them. The festival will close with The Good Lair; based on the widely acclaimed novel by Nicholas Searle and starring Dame Helen Mirren and Sir Ian McKellen.
In between the festival presents screenings of The Personal History Of David Copperfield; starring Dev Patel, Tilda Swinton, Hugh Laurie and Ben Wishaw, Mrs Lowry & Son; starring Timothy Spall and Vanessa Redgrave, this drama tells the complex relationship between the famous painter and his over-bearing, cantankerous mother, Fisherman's Friends; the true story of the part-time Cornish sea shanty group that hit the big time and Liam Gallagher: As It Was—the documentary containing a revealing and entertaining look into Liam's battles with booze and the law as he attempts to stage the greatest comeback in rock history.
