An era of artists, romance and bohemian life.

Montmartre! Rendezvous in Paris presents an evocative musical journey depicting tales of lost love in the famous red light district of Paris.

The allure of Montmartre inspired many famous artists from Salvador Dali to Toulouse-Lautrec and films such as Amelie and Moulin Rouge. An openly romantic and nostalgic time of decadence, typified by the cafes where the bohemia of Paris dream and where night birds and cabaret singers thrive. A time when artists sip on absinthe musing over the books they would write, symphonies they would compose and masterpieces they would paint.

This captivating show weaves intimate tales of the lives transformed by Paris’ most notorious district. Set to a beautiful soundscape of song and story featuring the iconic music of Cole Porter, Serge Gainsbourg, Jacques Brel and Edith Piaf, along with original scores. Delivered in French and English with accompaniment by piano, accordion and double bass.

The production presents an authentic retelling of the history of bohemian life in Montmartre where Nikki Nouveau recently lived to complete her research, interview locals and visit well known establishments such as Le Chat Noir, Moulin Rouge, Le Lapin Agile, Museum of Montmartre and Dali Paris Museum. The storytelling aspect of the performance evokes emotions of nostalgia, wonderment, love and sadness. Nouveau uses elements of music, theatre and dance to narrate her romantic story performing a stunning rendition of Charles Aznavour’s "La Boheme" in French and English.

Bringing a little piece of Paris to Australian audiences!
