For the first time two of Melbourne's heavy weights collaborate for one night in the south!

Multifuturism is an event presented by Multicultural Arts Victoria that pushes the boundaries of creative and sonic possibilities here in Melbourne, a city that is always batting in the big leagues of tastemakers worldwide. Two of Melbourne’s finest, The Senegambian Jazz Band and Cool Out Sun come together for a special night at the newly renovated Espy.

The Senegambian Jazz Band:
It is nearly impossible to describe in words, a world act that covers so much ground in a single performance. Trying to explain their musical spirit is like trying to paint an ethereal and intenselybeautiful dream. With members, hailing from Gambia, Senegal, Ethiopia and Australia convey a groove characteristic of each of their cultural backgrounds. Constructed around the framework of jazz and a deep world beat, elements of their music seem to combine the improvisational spirit, found at the core of 1960s Miles Davis and wild raging fire of Jimi Hendrix at his most free, unorthodoxed and true.

Cool Out Sun:
Cool Out Sun is a creative project composed of the super powers that are N'fa Jones, Sensible J and Nui Moon. Their debut single "Fire For" rocked the airwaves earning attention on Triple J, Triple J Unearthed and FBi Radio whilst the stunning visuals had living rooms turn dance floor. The beats provocative, the lyrics powerfully imaginative. Their recent debut LP displays the group's creative diversity and freedom featuring guest artist Lamine Sonko. The collective invite a range of artist's influences to collaborate during live shows, diversifying an ever changing, seasonal soundscape in world/roots music.
