If you’re a fan of murder crime drama, these dinner theatre shows are a must! This is a classic ‘whodunnit’ experience led by six professional actors, enjoyed over a three-course set menu dinner prepared by Rigby’s talented chefs.
The interactive shows—the first in Australia—are presented by the UK’s most established and acclaimed murder theatre company, Cluedunnit Australia. Led by multi-award-winning British artistic director Robbie Burns, the Perth murders feature a cast of 20 professional local actors who rotate through the monthly performance nights, bringing variety and spontaneity to each show.
Six actors per show are cast to portray suspects in the evening’s plot. Audience members do not become characters in the story, rather they are the detectives who try to solve the mystery based on clues and hints from the actors.
The first vital clues are revealed by the actor ‘suspects’ over pre-dinner drinks, as they mingle with guests on arrival. They then join in for dinner, circulating during the night to give audience members the chance to glean vital evidence to solve the mystery of ‘whodunnit?’.
“The action and clues flow thick and fast, and the performance is continuous,” says Robbie. “There is always frenetic competition among the audience as they attempt to reveal the true murderer.” Cluedunnit’s creative writing team is reputed for its amusing and devious plots. They are the resident performance group on Burgh Island in the UK, the very place Agatha Christie wrote many of her famous novels—adding an air of authenticity to the mystery!
