This month Nando’s is hosting Music Exchange (MX), a free one-day workshop designed to give early-career creatives the skills they need to embark on a full-time music career.

Registrations for the workshop taking place on Thursday 20 June at Studios 301, 3 Ellis Avenue in Alexandria are now open, with people aged 18–24 years encouraged to register their interest. MX is looking for aspiring singers, songwriters, and musicians to take part, plus people keen to work as agents, bookers, tour managers and label execs.

The event will give early-career musicians and creatives a chance to interact with artists and learn from music industry professionals through live panel discussions and breakout sessions. Aussie music presenter, DJ and MX 2019 Host, Jane Gazzo will also be interviewing artists including Kwamé, rapper and music producer from New York, Tokyo-born now Sydney-based producer Nyxen, Al Wright from Australian alternative rock band Cloud Control and Paul Brandoli, songwriter, topliner and producer.

Workshop topics include:
- Music industry basics
- How to build your brand and launch a career
- Mental health and wellbeing
- Collaboration and song writing

As the Australian music scene continues to grow, more and more talent are launching into the $526M industry which, according to the Australian Recording Industry Association, experienced a 12.26% growth last year.

With a booming industry it is becoming even more competitive for local artists to successfully break into the music scene. Jane Gazzo, said "It truly is a fantastic day from start to finish. MX gives young creatives the chance to empower themselves by coming face to face with key players in the music industry and finding out all they need to know to navigate a career behind the scenes or on stage. The artist workshops are also a highlight."

Nando’s is a proud supporter of young artists and providing opportunities for those in the early stages of their careers. With the global MX program now in its fifth year, the platform aims to bridge the gap between young musicians and experts in the arts and music industry, giving them exposure and networking opportunities unlike any other.

"We truly believe that food and music bring people together, so it’s really cool that we’re able host MX workshops in Australia and not only help young musos break into the scene but also strengthen the future of our own music industry. If you’re aged 18–24 and keen to work in the industry you should be applying. You’ll pick up some amazing skills and hear industry-insider stories while mixing with other creatives," said Nando’s MX program manager, Cath Palfreyman.

Run as part of the Nando’s Global Music Exchange program, the workshop provides a platform for young and emerging musicians to take the next step in their career. This is the third year where selected Australian participants will also be flown to the UK this September to take part in an all-expenses paid, five-day workshop at the Roundhouse, with other early-career artists from the UK and South Africa.
