Nestor Torres returns to Bird's Basement featuring Silvano Monasterios.

Equally fluent in Jazz, Classical and Latin Music, Puerto Rican Flautist Nestor Torres' melodic and rhythmical flute sound sets him apart. Presenting highlights from Latin Grammy nominated Jazz Flute Traditions, his most recent release on the Alfi Records label, he will share and explore the limitless possibilities of the flute in Jazz and Latin Jazz the way only he can.

With a career spanning over 25 years that includes 16 CDs, 4 Latin Grammy nominations, 1 Latin Grammy Award and a Grammy nomination, as well as collaborations with the likes of Tito Puente, Herbie Hancock, Ricky Martin, Dave Mathews, Gloria Estefan, and performances with, among others, The New World, Cleveland and Singapore Symphonies, Nestor Torres is a force to be reckoned with. His live performances "just cooks and you can feel the audience bouncing in their seats....The ability of Torres to switch styles so seamlessly is a testament to the man's virtuosity...His tone is pure, liquid and transcendent." - Ralph A. Miriello, HuffPost

As an educator, Nestor Torres has taught and lectured at the University of Southern California, University of Warwick in England, and University of Akron among others. He is also founder of The Cuban Danzon/Charanga Ensemble at Florida International University, and has received two honorary doctorate degrees for his commitment to youth, education, and cultural exchanges.
