On Location: Margaret River – An Exhibition

Immerse your senses in a breathtaking natural wonderland featuring live music, fine wine and exquisite art to celebrate the launch of a new exhibition “On Location: Margaret River”. Joe Webster is an International plein air artist in residence who is documenting his adventures in Margaret River, painting on location using graffiti and water-based media that interact with the atmosphere. Local mixed media artist Stu McMillan is showcasing energetic sculptures exploring natural elements of the Southwest. Both artists will share their creative journey with an exciting presentation on the opening night which is part of the Cabin Fever Festival event program.

Award winning British plein air artist Joe Webster is JahRoc’s artist in residence for the 2019 Cabin Fever festival. Joe will embrace the distinctive landscape of Margaret River and it’s weather in all conditions, trek to find the best views, have as many adventures as possible and document what he sees and feels on canvas. Joe paints his exquisite landscapes from start to finish on location using graffiti and water-based media, which capture the effects of rain, mist, sun or hail in the textures of paint on his canvas. His artist residency and exhibition was made possible by a grant from European Union, Regional Development Fund.

Joe Webster’s adventures will crescendo in an exhibition of his “On Location" paintings at JahRoc Galleries alongside sculptures by local artist Stu McMillan. Stu's love of the local environment fuels his passion to create and he uses many mediums to express this. This exhibition will showcase Stu McMillan’s unique sculptures that contemplate the seasonal shifts and patterns occurring in the local South West environment.
