Suitable for: children aged 13 and over.

Teenagers and their Grandparents, Parents or Carers will love working together to make a perfect patch from recycled denim led by Jane Milburn of Textile Beat. Create your very own perfect patch to; give as a gift, add to clothing as a brooch, on to your jeans, a pencil case or wherever you think a perfect patch will add your individual stamp to an object.

Inspired by Belinda Smith’s Blue Jean Sisters as part of A Fierce Hope, Slow Clothing Pioneer, Jane Milburn of Textile Beat will talk about the importance of reducing waste and supporting sustainable and ethical fashion practices.

Grandparents, parents and carers are encouraged to share their tips and tricks for mending while making their own perfect patches.

As many parents, carers and grandparents know:

"Until you make something with your own hands you don’t appreciate or value the resources, the energy and the skill that go into something that you buy." - Jane Milburn

Jane Milburn is a sustainability consultant, founder of Textile Beat and author of Slow Clothing: finding meaning in what we wear. She is a 2019 Churchill Fellow, TEDx speaker, climate reality leader and natural fibre champion who believes in dressing for health and wellbeing. Her superpowers are upcycling and mending.

Parents/carers must remain with children during the workshop, please feel free to join in and make your own perfect patch. Parents/grandparents/carers accompanying children do not need to purchase a ticket.
