Perth Folk and Roots Club is welcoming a new year of folk and roots with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling. For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Dilip Parekh and Dave Robertson and the Kiss List.

‘The Perth Folk and Roots Club is storming into 2019 with City of Stirling confirming support for the year and Dilip Parekh and Dave Robertson and the Kiss List providing some quality music at Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club to celebrate‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

Dilip Parekh is an Indian Irishman from Fremantle who is a singer/songwriter that has established himself as as one of Western Australia’s finest songwriters. Dilip is also widely known as the front man for high energy band, Dilip n the Davs. With six recording releases since their formation in 2008, Dilip n the Davs are a Freo favourite playing reggae/ska/funk/grooves that get people moving. Their album titled “Together”, feature guests Nicky Bomba and House of Shem’s Teo Perkins, was well received and had airplay nationally and internationally.

His solo album ‘Better Out Than In’ showcases his more reflective songs in solo mode including musical interpretations of poems by WB Yeats and Herbert Hoover, as well as his own contemporary eclectic folk material. Dilip solo also brings great energy to his performances and reflects a diversity of music and infectious engagement with audiences.

Dave Robertson is a story teller though his indie-folk-pop songs and has played at Nannup, Fairbridge, Earthdance and Fremantle festivals, West Coast Blues and Roots Fringe, supporting The Basics (featuring Gotye) in Tasmania and the sultry Canadian singer-songwriter Carolyna Lovely in Vancouver, and performing the political “Rogue State” to thousands at the Walk Against Warming rally in Fremantle in 2007. The Kiss List released their much anticipated album Oil, Love and Oxygen in November 2017 and toured Melbourne last year.

"As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience," Keith added.

Please note the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club is hosting the Perth Folk and Roots Club as a free event for its members and guests with memberships offered at a very reasonable cost to Perth Folk and Roots Club supporters.
