The next Perth Folk and Roots Club has been planned with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling. On this occasion, we also gratefully acknowledge the sponsorship of this event by Masonic Care WA. For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has the Western Suntones and the Shergold/McNair Project.

"Perth Folk and Roots Club welcomes Masonic Care WA sponsorship and participation in the night and welcomes back the Western Suntones and the Shergold/McNair Project for performing at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club," said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

The Western Suntones were formed in 2009 in Fremantle and are a country/blues roots based alt country Americana band currently playing in and around Perth WA. The line-up as a trio is Chris Harwood, acoustic upright bass/vocals, Steve Smith acoustic guitar/mandolin/vocals, and Jeff Barham - Acoustic/Electric guitar, mandolin, Dobro and vocals. Chris has been on the scene for a while in various original, rock and blues bands, most notably The Rockin Avocados of old Steve’s Hotel days, and blues bands The Moneymakers with Mark Vine, Bayou Brothers and Tin Dog. Steve "Hayseed" Smith is the Carl Perkins aficionado of the Western Suntones and Jeff provides Dobro sliding, Mandolin massaging, guitar picking.

Tony Shergold is a virtuoso guitarist, bassist and singer/songwriter. Although an eclectic musician he is well-known locally as a great blues-based guitarist. He has worked with Rick Steele & the Hot Biscuit Band and fronted his own Tony Shergold Band in the 1990s. Tony has also recorded an album 'Twenty First Century Blues' produced by Tony at Tone Zone Studios Perth which has been described as a brilliant contemporary blues album.

As a young man Tony also recorded an album with Greg Lake from the iconic Progressive Rock 70s supergroup Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Tony is currently performing blues in The Shergold/McNair Project with John McNair. John McNair is a bass played come multi-instrumentalist who is well known for supporting numerous bands in Western Australia including the Dave Hole band. John is also on the Perth Folk and Roots Club Committee and plays regularly with Keith Anthonisz of Perth Folk and Roots Club in duets and trios.

"As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience," Keith added.
