The Perth Folk and Roots Club will be celebrating Christmas with the last show for the year at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 15th December 2019 with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling. The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley. For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has the Sleepwalkers featuring John Chopping and Paul Marvin and Helen Townsend.

‘Perth Folk and Roots Club welcomes the Sleepwalkers featuring John Chopping and Paul Marvin and Helen Townsend for a Christmas spirited Perth Folk and Roots Club ‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

John Chopping is a blues guitarist and stalwart of the Perth music scene with 20 years in one of Perth's longest continuously running blues bands Indigo Duck. Indigo Duck was a 5-piece band playing jug band, ragtime & blues between 1996 through to 2017. They have been described as the best pub band ever. John Chopping is also ex-president and founding member of the Perth Blues Club. He has also released two solo CD’s.

The Sleepwalkers are Paul Marvin & John Chopping. Paul & John began playing together when Paul re-located to Australia with his family from the UK well over 25 years ago. Together they performed with Jeff Harrison and the Indigo Duck band and toured extensively. In 2019 they re-badged themselves as The Sleepwalkers bringing acoustic based music to the forefront. They also have a recording of original songs on the album "Corn Soup Blues". Paul Marvin on acoustic guitar is the son of Shadows guitarist Hank Marvin.

Helen Townsend is a singer songwriter with a vocal style that has been described as country or contemporary folk with performances at the Perth Blues Club, Mundaring Folk Club and local Fremantle venues like the Norfolk Basement and Clancys Fish Pub and festivals such as Nannup. Helens early influences include Emmylou Harris, Iris DeMent and John Prine to name a few, along with a healthy dose of local bands such as The Bondi Cigars, Black Cat Moan, Satellite V and The Prickles. Helens debut CD, Wayward Heart has resulted in multiple nominations for awards such as Boyup Brook Country Music Award for "Red Light' Single of the Year and a WAM nomination for "Streets of Glory" Song of the Year.

"As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience," Keith added.
