Join us for a rare chance to see behind the scenes of one of Perth’s most interesting and successful urban food garden projects with this free tour of the Urban Orchard in the Perth Cultural Centre.

To mark the 10th anniversary of the commencement of the Urban Orchard revitalisation project tour participants will get to explore this unique garden and learn about:

- The concept for the organic garden and how it was designed given some very challenging parameters
- The 30 + mature fruit trees in the space and how they are cared for
- The interesting veggie and herbs growing in the understory
- And perhaps leave with some produce for home!

The Urban Orchard boasts 300 sqm of garden beds with mature fruit trees and food plants that produce a harvest all year for the community to share. The space attracts 4.5 million visitors a year and has won multiple awards.

The tour will be led by Perth City Farm's Emma Slavin, a Horticulturalist and Educator who cares for the space with a team of volunteers from City Farm. The tour is designed for an adult audience, but children are welcome to attend with their carers.

This tour is free, but please secure your place by booking a ticket through the registration link. Places are limited.

The tours are part of Perth City Farm’s 25th anniversary celebration series, happening 18 August–15 September 2019 which is kindly supported by Lotterywest and the City of Perth. Perth City Farm is a community environmental centre in East Perth, which works to foster community connection and sustainable living in Perth. For more information on other events happening as a part of the 25th anniversary series visit our Facebook page.
