Join three intrepid playwrights in search of the most wholesome play ever in Project Bestfriendship, an enchanting new production as part of Q Theatre’s Q Indie Mini Gras season.

This heart-comedy follows three playwrights Ang, Charles, and Eliza who, united by the bigness of their hearts, and their fondness for being nice to people, vowed that they would never view each other as competition.

Fast forward three years to 2019 and the world is a darker and far more cynical place. Troubled by ubiquitous cruelty and a fractious theatre industry, they set out to change the world. Together they take on Sironies (ironic Sirens), the Cisclops (cis male cyclops), the Ghosts of Dead Theatre Blogs, and sixteen modernised Shakespeare adaptations. But will they stay strong, or will the Funding Wizard best them again?

Produced and performed by Ang Collins, Charles O’Grady and Eliza Oliver, Project Bestfriendship is a comedy that is set to redefine friendship in three congenial acts.

Project Bestfriendship is a part of Q Theatre’s Q Indie program Mini Gras a week long season that provides independent LGBTIQ*+ theatre makers with the opportunity to produce and showcase their work at the Allan Mullins Studio. Coinciding with the Sydney Mardi Gras, there is no better time to celebrate and shine a spotlight on budding queer artists.

In addition to Mini Gras, Q Indie will return in September for New West, a collaboration with the Sydney Fringe Festival which gives independent artists living in the Greater West an opportunity to submit theatrical works.
