The universe is ruled by darkness. Ninety-five percent of it is made of dark matter and dark energy. Their gravity explains the size, shape and history of the universe. And it explains how galaxies are formed, and how their parts are held together. But the precise nature of dark matter and dark energy is yet unknown. What can they be?
Professor Paolo Gondolo is a world-class astrophysicist working on the nature of dark matter. With more than 100 highly-cited publications in scientific journals and a reputation as a clear lecturer, he is often invited to other US institutions, Europe and Asia for collaborations and teaching. A Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Utah, and Director of the High Energy Astrophysics Institute, he led the Astronomy Initiative that brought new astronomy faculty to the University, together with a new astronomy curriculum and research and educational facilities.
Attendance is free, but registration is required.
The event will be at the Messel Lecture Theatre, Sydney Nanoscience Hub.
