Pyrenees Blue Magic Bike Ride

Welcome to cycling in our wonderful Pyrenees in Victoria. This is a great practise ride before "Around the Bay in a day" as there are no traffic lights & minimal traffic. Once again Blue Pyrenees Estate at Percydale has allowed us to start & finish the rides from their vineyards and Cafe Blue restaurant. This is a lovely introduction to the vineyards that we will pass by along the route.

The vineyard is located 7km North West from the centre of Avoca. The route will be the Audax “Pyrenees Magic” which circles around the undulating foothills of the Pyrenees Ranges.The event goes through the townships of Moonambel, Landsborough, Elmhurst, Amphitheatre and Avoca. The total distance is 113km with a vertical rise approx 670metres. For cyclists wishing a shorter ride Moonambel (for coffee etc) and back to Blue Pyrenees Estate it is a comfortable 46km on flat roads. The shorter ride will start 15 minutes after the main bunch have left at 9am.

The food stop is Landsborough (50km) and another drink stop at Elmhurst (75km). A free “Sausage sizzle” and soft drink awaits at the Rotary BBQ at the end of the ride or a more substantial offering (plus wine etc) is available at “Cafe Blue” at Blue Pyrenees Estate.

The aim is for everyone to ride within their ability and enjoy the day. In the event of not being able to complete the ride a "sag wagon" will transport you back to Avoca. We also have ambulance officers and ambulances if required.

No entries on the day of the ride.

This is a Rotary Club of Maryborough charity event and with your help we have donated over $20,000 to various health services for our Maryborough and District community. Our small rural Rotary Club has a commitment to "make a difference" within our community, in Australia and indeed the world. The profit from this event will help to make a difference to a variety of community projects that need assistance in Maryborough and district. PS Did anyone ask about coffee before the ride? We need 100 entries before a coffee van will make a committment.

FAQs

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
Children 16 years or younger must be accompanied by a cycling adult

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There is no public transport to this event. It is approx 200km NW of Melbourne and 90km West of Bendigo There is sufficient parking at the vineyard. The preferred carparking is the grassed service area near the vines.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
Yes the ticket is transferrable. Please remember to bring your ticket and register at the administration marquee prior to 9am. Also we like to know that everyone has arrived back, so please report back to administration when you have completed your ride.

What is the refund policy?
As this is a charity ride we have a no refund policy. All Donations are gratefully received.
