All we want for Christmas is you…

Christmas is a special time of year when friends and family come together, give thanks and celebrate. So why not do it twice a year? Yes, Queanbeyan Christmas in July is back with all the delights of a mid-year Christmas gathering and we want YOU to be there. Enjoy over 150 unique market stalls, belly-filling foods and a whole lot of community love. There is even a chance to break a world record!
The day includes Christmas-inspired food, gourmet treats, and wine, handmade Christmas gifts, artificial snow, art displays, a play area for your little elves, outdoor obstacle course and rides. Live music from local buskers, performances from Bom Funk Dance Studio and the ever popular Po Boys will keep things all merry and bright at the Queanbeyan Showground 7 July 2019.

Get ready for oodles of Christmas joy with the region’s first ever ‘Oodle Races’. Poodle cross breads are welcomed in the categories of puppies to mature dogs and all breeds can compete in the ‘best dressed Christmas dog’ competition. Take a photo with Santa Paws for a donation to local animal rescue groups.

Those wanting to flex their baking muscle are encouraged to enter the Christmas cake and Ginger Bread house competition. With attractive cash prizes for general entry, youth and male categories the competition is expected to be hotter than Christmas in the southern hemisphere. Think you can kiss for a good cause? Well we need you to lock lips to raise money for home in Queanbeyan.

“Every year we try to introduce more Christmas, continue to have fun and give back to our wonderful community—breaking the (unofficial) world record for the most people to kiss under mistletoe will certainly meet this aim” said Laura Shelley Team Leader for Events for QPRC. Couples can register for $5.00 to be part of the (unofficial) world record attempt and receive a special kissing badge, a sprig of mistletoe and be ready to smooch at (insert time) for a good cause.

The ‘Early Christmas Presence Pass’ is back by popular demand with pass holders able to access the event one hour before the official opening time. After feedback from the community we recognised that some people who have mobility concerns, sensory issues or who are uncomfortable around large crowds might be encouraged to join in if considerations were made. In this time we do our best to minimise the number of people on site, limit noise and offer parking close to the event.
Tim Overall, Mayor of Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council, said that the event is a stand out on the event calendar.

"This event is especially important for celebrating the region during the winter months," said Mayor Overall. The importance and success of the event has recently been recognised with Queanbeyan Christmas in July recognised as a finalist in the Local Government NSW Awards in the category of economic contribution. The winner is to be announced later in the year.

Right now we’re making a list and checking it twice, so be sure to let us know you’re coming. By registering, you can go into the draw to win a premium European-designed Christmas tree valued at $1000 thanks to Christmas Emporium.
