Mark the fashion revolution with Willoughby City Council’s free film screening of the award-winning documentary, RiverBlue.

Follow international river conservationist, Mark Angelo as he spans the globe to infiltrate one of the world’s most pollutive industries, fashion. This ground breaking documentary examines the destruction of our rivers through the production of clothing, and its effect on humanity.

Fun and interactive community stalls and activities will be available to browse before the movie including:
- Room A Recycled Products: Your chance to buy unique handmade items made locally from recycled denim, including cushions, aprons, scrunchies and more.
- Boomerang Bags: Purchase unique tote bags made by our local volunteer-run community groups.
- Tees to Totes: Learn to make your own shopping bags from old T-shirts, no sewing needed.

Fashion is one of the world’s ‘thirstiest’ industries. It takes the equivalent of three years drinking water (2,700 litres) to produce just one cotton t-shirt.

On 24 April 2013, the Rana Plaza building in Bangladesh collapsed. 1,1138 people died and another 2,500 were injured making it the fourth largest industrial disaster in history. This sparked The Fashion Revolution.

Alex Van Os, founder of Op Shop to Runway, eco-fashion stylist and Red Cross Ambassador will join to provide solutions on ways to remain stylish and on-trend without costing the earth.

This event is part of Council’s Live Well in Willoughby series, fun ways to rethink your lifestyle with great information, practical workshops, inspiring talks and walks. Bookings are essential via Willoughby City Council website.

5:45–7pm: Educational stalls and light refreshments
7pm: Film screening
8:40pm: Q&A with Alex Van Os
