Roots Rock Reggae Sunday is here again.

This month's line-up is a cool mix of soul, roots and rhythm for all you groovers to get down too!

Izania
Izania, meaning ‘God Hears’ derives from a combination of two words. The members of Izania hail from many different nations around the globe, drawn together by a common love for creating music that speaks a universal language.

Although the music is predominantly reggae based, the skills and background that each member bring to the table allow for fusion of different rhythms and styles creating a world based sound that aims to capture hearts of all people. Lyrically, a large proportion of the original music written for Izania, is based on the theme of unity in diversity with empowering messages of hope, love and respect for all humanity.

First Wave
First Wave is a brand new musical ‘boutique combo’ consisting of Chris and Neil from local ‘second wave’ Ska legends ‘The Funaddicts’. First Wave gets its name from the vibrant Ska/Reggae/Rocksteady sounds that flourished in Jamaica during the ‘60s.

They will take you on a journey featuring classic Jamaican hits of the era like ‘Wonderful World, Beautiful People’ and ‘Stir It Up’ and then treat all your favourite 80s New Wave and modern pub singalong classics to a surprise ‘1st wave’ reggae treatment!

David Spry
Carefully crafted lyrics set to a mix of cinematic and raw, stripped-back compositions are the hallmark of David Spry's music. He can read audiences from party beach to acoustic chill. His style moves from gritty and intimate songs to free-spirited, fun tracks.

David strongly identifies with his Indigenous Maranunggu/Marrithiyel heritage from what is known as the Daly River and Litchfield regions. His cultural heritage on both parents’ sides has informed not just his songwriting but his take on life and how to live it as a conscientious human, leaving a legacy and being mindful of his place in the world.

As a leading Australian touring artist, David has performed at numerous festivals including Nannup Festival, Blue Mountains Music Festival, Bendigo Blues and Roots, Caloundra Music Festival, St Kilda Fest, Nimbin Roots, Garma Festival and National Folk Festival.

David delivers a poignant balance of touching personal connections and infectious rhythms that only a dance will remedy. Spry is solidifying the fresh new sound of Australian Roots and forging new story-lines for Contemporary Indigenous music.
