Step into a welcoming, informal space where stories about love, loss, life and strife infuse you with laughter and tears. Saga Sisterhood is a transformative performance project from Perth for women from communities who identify as South Asian that come from non-performer backgrounds, but all have something to say about love, friendship, belonging, family and identity.
We are now in the era of political wars against particular identities where the only thing we might have left is our human stories. This project has emerged from a creative development at The Centre for Stories led by Sukhjit Kaur Khalsa with the valuable storytelling training of Sisonke Msimang and directing from Shirley Van Sanden.
This special Melbourne edition for Mapping Melbourne will feature those that come from Indian backgrounds: Nisha D’cruz, Amarjit Kaur and Maya Rose from Perth, Manjusha and Aarti Jadu from Melbourne.
All profits from ticket sales will go back into this community arts project empowering women to tell their stories.
Wheelchair accessible venue. This event is affiliated with the Companion Card initiative.
