About the film:
This fast-paced Japanese samurai film was directed by one of the most important and influential filmmakers in the history of cinema: Akira Kurosawa. In it a jaded samurai, Sanjuro (Toshiro Mifune) helps a group of nine idealistic young warriors weed out their clan’s evil influences and save one of their uncles who has been framed and imprisoned by a corrupt superintendent. The film has been described as technically impressive and currently has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Trivia bite: Toshiro Mifune really does slap the three young actors in the scene where his character is forced to kill a dozen men. The three actors were so surprised that they really did fly backwards.
