Absolutely no creative skills necessary! This event is for you if you want to:
- Meet new people in Melbourne
- Practise your conversational skills
- Learn to listen and ask meaningful questions
- Practise quick sketching and note-taking
What happens in each social?
You'll spend 10 minutes each with 5 different people, and practise holding a meaningful conversation with someone you've just met, using a range of conversation topics (this is provided).
You will then sketch key information you've learnt about this person, and vice versa, which you'll both exchange at the end of the interaction. This sketch will be your opening line with the next person you meet.
Why attend?
Learn to listen, and learn to communicate ideas with simple sketches. Too often we begin new conversations with the same get-to-know-you basics: "What do you do for work?", "Where are you from?", "What did you study?". And too often, we forget the answers.
In this social, we'll ask deeper questions that reveal more about who a person is—all within 10 minutes—and create a sketch to communicate what you've just learnt. You'll be given basic sketching tips that will help you quickly communicate these messages in a visual language that is easily understood. Carry this skills over to your everyday interactions, workplace, or any other social environment.
