Buddhist Course-Stages to Enlightenment - 3-Week Course

A set of 3 Sunday classes complementing each other over 3 month which will describe the three key principal realisations upon the path to enlightenment.
- The Wish to Definitely Emerge
- The Great Compassion & Love to Free All Sentient Beings
- Developing the Wisdom that Stops the Cause of All Suffering

Attending just one of these classes will awaken a new perspective about you and your world. Day courses will have 30-min tea breaks in morning and afternoon and 1-hr. lunch break.

- The Wish to Definitely Emerge
Sunday Class on 3th March 10am to 4pm
Just as the lotus beautifully emerges from the muddy lake bottom unsullied by the mud so too can we emerge from the conditioned existence of karma and delusion. In this class, we will be exploring our unsatisfactory existence and understanding that we can emerge to pure state of being. Our mind is essentially pure and has the potential to free itself from the shackles of karma and delusion. Understanding our predicament and seeing that we can free ourselves stimulates within us the wish to definitely emerge.

- The Great Compassion & Love to Free All Sentient Beings
Sunday Class on 31st March 10am to 4pm
Understanding our predicament and seeing that all others are in this state too we then develop the highest love and compassion for all sentient beings as symbolized by Chenrezig the Buddha of Compassion. In order to be of greatest benefit, we not only need to free ourselves from delusion and karma. We also need to develop great qualities of generosity, patience, ethics etc. in order to best serve all sentient beings. In this class we will explore the obstacles to generating genuine love and compassion and how to overcome these.

- Developing the Wisdom that Stops the Cause of All Suffering
Sunday Class on 28 April 10am to 4pm
Our deluded view of the world and our self is the root of all our dysfunctional states of mind, such as attachment, anger, pride etc. By developing our Wisdom we can counter our deluded views and so cut the root of all our suffering as symbolized by the Buddha of Wisdom, Manjushri, with his flaming sword. In this class, we will develop wisdom about our misapprehensions of the world and our self and begin to transcend them.

About Us

We are a joint initiative between Jamie Denham’s West End Yoga Centre and Alan Carter of Benefitting Beings through Wisdom an associate of FPMT (The Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition). We are developing a community of like minded people who are interested in the teachings of the Buddha. We are trying to keep the facility cost to a minimum to cover costs and any additional monies will be donated to Buddhist projects.
