Inspired by great solo blues musicians such as Seasick Steve, Shaun Kirk, Ash Grunwald and Claude Hay and has supported Australian blues troubadour Shaun Kirk on his national tour in 2017, Steph Fischer-Ivancsy (pronounced ee-vahn-chee) is an old soul in a new body belting out the blues.

With the loss of her father at the age of 16 and being resuscitated from a Diabetic coma shortly afterwards, Steph had found her pain and hardship was easy to ease through the power of blues music. The soul and passion is what drives her to create songs with messages about her issues and struggles in life. Her recently new single ‘Sugar’ which is a crowd favourite, is the perfect example dictated into music of all the struggles of a Type 1 Diabetic.

Known for playing with 5 string guitars, cigar boxes, foot percussion, slide techniques and chillingly soulful vocals, Steph spawns the blues with a modern twist at an exciting new level in her performances. Wether it’s a festival, a hidden away pub or professional venue, the vibe is never dull with this young lass.

This fresh, young performer has been discovering and building her music since she was 8 years of age and gained an interest in blues music at 16 from listening to early White Stripes with their covers of Son House's 'Death Letter Blues'. Whilst studying the blues throughout her last year of VCE, Steph discovered many blues artists, but three that stood out tremendously was Shaun Kirk, Ash Grunwald and Claude Hay with their multi-instrument talent. "I saw a video of Shaun Kirk one day and that was when I suddenly had this epiphany of what I really wanted to do with my music. It was raw and striking, I had to do that."

After finishing a Diploma of Sound Production, Steph proceeds to create, produce and mix all her own demos through her bedroom studio.

Steph has gone on to become a teacher of music, teaching children of many ages the theories and practical skills in music. Starting teaching at only 18, it has become a huge part of her life spreading the love for music to the younger generation.

Only beginning her solo career in late 2015, Steph has managed to play at established venues in Melbourne, New South Wales and the Mornington Peninsula. Venues and festivals have been truly remarkable performances from the mademoiselle herself.
