Subgenre Belly Dancing

Welcome to Subgenre: a dance space for Australia’s Fusion and Contemporary belly dancers to come and perform in a relaxed atmosphere. Fusion belly dance draws from Traditional and Oriental Belly Dance and combines it with other styles and a variety of music, resulting in a unique dance genre like no other.

In homage to Underground Nomads in San Francisco, Melbourne now has its own open stage, Subgenre, at the Horse Bazaar. Melbourne has a remarkable Fusion dance scene, so hold on to your hats kids! It’s only going to get bigger! Come on down folks, and witness Melbourne’s best and brightest Fusion and Contemporary belly dancers on the stage for an evening of delights! You won't regret it!

Doors open 7:30 to 10:30, on the last Monday of every month. $5 entry for a wonderful night of entertainment, guest DJs TBA to keep the tunes bass-filled, (and there’s a restaurant and bar to keep your belly full, too!).
