Volleyball SA is diving into summer, launching South Australia’s first nine-day festival, Summer Sets, which encourages the community to play alongside the world’s best at Glenelg Beach. More than forty volleyball courts will span the beach, with organisers expecting up to fifty thousand festival goers to hit the Bay across January 5th to the 13th.

With DJ’s and activation zones scattered across the beach, as well as prize money on the line for all competitors, Summer Sets, will bring a unique, fun, music festival vibe to the shore. Spectators will see the world’s best in action, with 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medallist, Christopher McHugh, competing in front of his home crowd. Aussie talent will be front and centre, with 2016 Rio Olympian and Commonwealth Games silver medallist, Mariafe Artacho del Solar teaming up with Taliqua Clancy, who represented Australia at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

The public will have the opportunity to rub shoulders with the world’s best, with Volleyball SA launching a social league as part of Summer Sets. No volleyball experience is required, with the competition aimed at encouraging workplaces, friendship groups and families to get active. Social teams will be made up of four to six players, with first place, second place and best dressed sharing in up to $2,000 worth of prizes.

Pride will be on the line when Adelaide’s best sports players, news readers and influencers team up to battle it out in the celebrity match. The festival will also encourage families to join in the fun, with come and try courts and the Spike Zone activation area spanning the foreshore, as well a Spike Zone trail where kids can collect gifts from each stall. Key sponsors, including Chobani, lululemon, Nippy’s and Good Physio will be providing fun and engaging activities free of charge for the public.

Summer Sets will serve up its action-packed, nine-day tournament in the new year, spanning from January 5th to the 13th. The tournament is free for spectators and social teams can register online for $25 per person, by following the registration link.
