A popular French inspired burlesque take on Offenbach's famous tales of Hoffmann at the cabaret inspired atmosphere of LUX Nightclub—this is opera fusion! Our Hoffmann is slashed to 90 minutes and infused with French and French inspired popular songs in this Parisian Jazz Burlesque interpretation.
The story is about the loves of the poet Hoffmann’s life—unlucky in love as he struggles with the forces of 'good' and 'evil', truth and deception, the angel and the demon. Not all is as it seems in this sophisticated, wacky and surreal French inspired production.
Devised and directed by award winning director Julie Edwardson and starring our usual array of top line opera and contemporary singers and accompanied by the Cut Opera house combo. Cast includes Hew Wagner (Hoffmann), Katy Turbitt (as Hoffmans lovers), Michael Lampard (Demon) and Kerry Frankland (the Angel Nicklaus).
