Temporal Proximities is a free exhibition curated by Kelli Alred, featuring work by contemporary Australian artists that reflect on notions of agency, displacement and time.
The exhibition will showcase a combination of new, site-specific commissions and existing works by Helen Grogan, Katie Lee, Bridie Lunney, Gabriella Mangano and Silvana Mangano, Angelica Mesiti, S.J. Norman, Jill Orr and Clare Rae. Durational and intermittent performances will be presented in dialogue with sculpture and moving-image installations.
The exhibition unfolds dynamically across three evenings (1–3 March), following the natural fall of light from 6 to 9pm. Audiences are invited to enter at any time and explore the exhibition as they please.
Built in the 1880s, the Convent’s heritage-listed Magdalen Laundries are thought to be amongst the few surviving and relatively intact examples of their type anywhere in the world. Experience the first exhibition to span these evocative spaces, following stage one conservation and restoration works, due to be completed in June 2019.
