The Band(s) Next Door is the monthly installment of alternative and underground bands from across Sydney returns in 2019. Always striving for a night of musical deliveries across the board, February's lineup is no different. with another mixed bag to keep your spirit sparkin'.
Opening up the night will be garage crock-pop three piece Cookbook Book Club, who—despite their affinity for kitchen themed 80 second lo-fi recipes—have recently come to terms with the realisation that a 'Surf N Turf', is not actually Fish N' Chips. Much more fun than two minute noodles. (That's a prog rock joke for you there).
Joan Banoit will be the crooner of the evening, complete with a synth driven cinematic backdrop that borders on the orchestral while being a tangible delight on the ears. Joan's debut LP is due out soon, so expect some art pop treats to be thrown your way.
Bringing to the night to the glorious, ethereal climax is dirging funeral merchants SNAPE. The Gothic post-punk quartet released their debut LP on One Brick Today last year, which takes you through blackened laments and nostalgic Gregorian chants. Repent in the wash of their resonating cathedral sized sounds.
Doors from 7pm, with free entry all night. The University of Technology Sydney and 2SER acknowledge and pay their respects to the traditional owners of the land the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation.
