The Bloody Long Walk is a 35-kilometre challenge owned and operated by the Mito Foundation. Walk, jog or run and enjoy spectacular scenery whilst raising vital funds to help find cures for mitochondrial disease (mito).
Mito is a debilitating and potentially fatal genetic disorder that impairs the body's ability to convert food into the energy needed to power muscles and major organs; one in 200 people are at risk of developing mito. One Australian child born each week suffers a severe or life-threatening form of mito making it the second most commonly diagnosed serious genetic disease after cystic fibrosis.
Take in the breathtaking views of Canberra and its bush surrounds as you make your way from Red Hill to Lake Burley Griffin. Pass some of Canberra's most iconic buildings including Parliament House and the War Memorial. Take the last steps of your 35km challenge at Reconciliation Place.
Enjoy the 35-kilometre challenge at your own pace, be it a walk, jog or run, knowing that every step is one step closer to finding a cure for mito! Fully supported course with checkpoints and refreshments.
