Looking for something very special to do with your Dad on Father's Day this year? You’ll have all bases covered at the Arkaba Hotel as one of South Australia’s most popular live music acts, The BordererS, present their special event “The Borderers 25th Anniversary Fathers Day Irish Gala” from 2pm on Sunday 1st September at Top Of The Ark, the main live music room at the legendary Arkaba Hotel.

Why not wine and dine the Dad in your life with lunch downstairs in the Arkaba bistro before taking him upstairs to enjoy a fantastic lineup of entertainment that will give him a Father's Day to remember!

The Borderers continue to electrify both Australian and international audiences with their fusion of Celtic rock, zydeco, African, folk, gospel and whatever style of music that happens to take their fancy! Their 25th Anniversary Gala show at The Gov during this year’s Adelaide Fringe sold out in record time and gave their longtime fans the show they had all been waiting for. At the Arkaba the afternoon’s entertainment will bring a blistering set from The Borderers as Jim and Alex continue to bring even more energy into their music than what they started out with in 1994.

Fresh from touring all over the world, the group hope to see their dedicated fans out in force on Father’s Day with their Dads, grandfathers, sons and anyone who loves a rockin’ good time on the dance floor.

Special guest appearing at the Gala will be Jo Lawry, the South Australian born internationally acclaimed vocalist who went from living in Adelaide to studying music in New York, then to honing her jazz vocal skills in Washington and Boston, before the release of her debut album “I Want To Be Happy” in 2008. Jo went on to become well-known beyond jazz circles for her work with Sting, with whom she has toured and recorded since 2009, and more recently with Paul Simon and Peter Gabriel. In 2013, Jo was featured in the film ’20 Feet From Stardom’ which chronicled the lives and careers of “the backup singers behind some of the greatest musical legends of the 21st century”.

The Celtic themed fun and entertainment continues throughout the day with a lineup featuring Irish dancers and a pipe band plus one of Adelaide’s top Irish comedians.
