The Craw With East Coast Low

The Craw! return to Newcastle's premier live original music venue. Joining us for this very special night of top shelf rock will be East Coast Low.

The CRAW! draws on influence that include surf guitar legend Dick Dale. "I love writing instrumental’s and they are Dick Dale-ish. I’m also into Link Wray— high octane surf guitar," vocalist and guitarist Paul Harris said. "It’s guitar rock’n’roll kind of garage, surf guitar…hints of everything from rockabilly to Crazy Horse and T-Rex.

They will play some covers, but mostly original material written by Harris and bass player Rob Hogan. Much of the material focuses on matters of the heart. “Romance, the pleasures and frustrations of daily life, motorcycles, let me think what else...Nah, that about covers it I think," Harris said.

"I draw on the most powerful emotions in my life to inspire me lyrically and the music is the combination of everything I have been exposed to. I've written songs about my children and my relationship with them. There are also a few songs I wrote with The Hurricanes which have crossed over to this band.

"There is a lot of big guitar, fiery, fat rhythms, and our bass player, Rob "The Colonel" Hogan is the beast of ballsy, ballistic bass."

The band went through a few early line-up changes in the rehearsal stage but the final line-up sees Harris and Hogan joined by Steven Squelch on drums and Shane Hayter on guitar.

The Craw! are currently recording their new album at Sawtooth Studios here in Newcastle.
