This raw and evocative piece of theatre promises a night of ponderance on just how far a community will go, once suspicion takes hold. A drama, written by Arthur Miller, based on the Salem Witch trials that took place in the Massachusetts Bay Colony during 1692/93.

After the reverend of Salem discovers a group of girls dancing in the forest, some become strangely ill. The cause? Witchcraft! The girls confess but also name others as witches; including the wife of a local farmer, John Proctor. The town is in an uproar, but John will stop at nothing to save his wife and his friends from the rope. This tale of truth and lies, justice and revenge, pits friends against each other and divides the town. Who will prevail?

Winner of the 1953 Tony Award for Best Play. This exciting drama about the Puritan purge of witchcraft in old Salem is both a gripping historical play and a timely parable of our contemporary society.

By arrangement with Hal Leonard Australia Pty Ltd, on behalf of Dramatists Play Service, Inc. New York.
