After 7 near-death experiences before the age of 25, some may say Adolphe Sax should have quit while he was ahead. Alas, he persisted and the 1840s saw him create the saxophone. Since then, a plethora of brilliant composers have contributed masterworks for the instrument. 'The Living Saxophone' focuses the attention towards the composers of today and celebrates some of the leading 21st century works for saxophone.
This concert will present a world premiere of a dynamic work for octet, a collaborative saxophone quartet debut, a Perth inspired piece for saxophone and electronics, and a surprise featured guest artist, amongst various other brilliant works for saxophone.
This concert is one that you'll wish you didn't miss! All money taken will go towards bringing Graham Fitkin—WAAPA Sax Studio's Guest Artist for 2019—to Perth.
