Happy New Year! To celebrate the re-launch of Fugue under our new name The Urban Sea, we are putting on a killer show for you all down at Tomcat!

Playing on the night we have:

Dylan Cattanach
Brisbane born Dylan Cattanach, singer/songwriter and front man of KB Theory, has started his solo project exploring indie pop & funk. His voice can be described as raw and energetic, complementing the themes he’s singing about—love, hope & youth. Dylan spent his early years surrounded by music. He performed at an early age with his father’s band, and his love for music and playing live started there. His original instrument was piano and since then he’s become an accomplished drummer, bass player and lead guitarist. Lately Brisbane audiences have been discovering him acoustically. Plans are in place to record his solo project in the new year.

Dylan is starting 2019 on a high as first support along with Garrett Kato, for two of Pete Murray’s 2019 Summer sessions and is looking forward to having the chance to play with a couple of Australia’s hardest working musicians.

Low Lying Clouds
Low Lying Clouds is a hip-hop/jazz band which blends jazz/hip-hop with elements of hip-hop and jazz.

idïo
idïo are Josh Kameus (Bass), Hamish Blake (Guitar), Josh Batka (Drums) and Evie Levonis (Vocals). The band formed after discovering a shared passion for a style of music that is fun for both the performers to play and the audience to dance too. The Nu-Dance-Funk-Rock band utilises its members abilities and showcases each member in a different way. Reminiscent of The Red Hot Chili Peppers, New Order and Norah Jones, idïo put on an awesome live show that makes it impossible to sit still. idïo have recently released their debut ep, ‘Orange Peels and Electric Eels’ which is available on all major streaming services.

The Urban Sea
Formerly Fugue, The Urban Sea have been kicking around the streets of Brisbane in one form or another since mid-2016. The genre-fluid six piece have always been a melting pot of influences ranging from rock to R&B however more recently they’ve found their groove and have forged a unique soulful sound that’s all their own. The Urban Sea have an arsenal of instruments at their disposal including guitars, saxophone, keys, synths, flute, bass, and drums affording them a funky and upbeat foundation for lead singer Chris MacDonald’s emotive and evocative vocals.

Formerly known as Fugue, 2018 was a busy year for the band, finalising their line-up and recording and releasing their debut EP ‘Your Enemy’. The three track EP was entirely produced and recorded by the band’s drummer Casper Hall at a rural Airbnb they rented for a week. Released in July 2018, the title song ‘Your Enemy’ was picked up and played by multiple local radio stations across the country, and garnered significant streams and downloads across several platforms. The bands biggest show to date saw them selling out Brisbane's Flamin' Galah at the launch of their EP in July. Since then they have been busy headlining shows at venues such as Lefty’s and The Foundry, as well as supporting some great local and interstate artists.

The Urban Sea’s first single ‘Underground Love’ will be launched in March 2019, with a string of shows to support the release. The band and fans are hyped to finally see it released as the upbeat R&B/rock track is a standout favourite at live shows. Urban Sea are already in the preproduction phase of recording a new EP and are hitting the studio in early in the year. They are preparing themselves for an absolutely massive 2019.
