This Woman’s Work: Anthology of The Great Female Songwriters

New York-based Miriam Waks returns to 505 to debut This Woman’s Work, a celebratory exploration and (incomplete) anthology of the many great female songwriters of the past and present century. This Woman’s Work digs deep into the many facets of female experience and perspective—their stories, their music, and the times in which they were written. From fierce political protest to laments of love, satirical social commentary to the spiritual nourishment of faith, the songs and themes presented are as varied as the women who wrote them. Funny, heartbreaking, and inspiring, Miriam invites you to join her and her kick-ass all-female band to fall in love with these women and the legacy of their work. Featuring the music of: Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell, Nina Simone, Carole King, Edith Piaf, Anaïs Mitchell, and many more.

Miriam Waks made her performing debut at the tender age of 10 singing solo at the Sydney Opera House. Since that time she has developed into a highly original artist and vibrant performer who sings in 17 languages and a plethora of musical styles. She has performed at venues and residencies across the globe including New York, Buenos Aires, France, Cuba, Edinburgh, London, Italy, Brussels, India, Macau, Hong Kong & Australia. In 2018 Miriam released her first originals album, Tales from a Room which features 11 songs penned by Miriam. The album received extensive airplay on radio stations across America and Canada.
