Supported by The Starktones.

Hailing from Brisbane, The Starktones are described by Triple J’s Nkechi Anele as a "Ray of sweet sweet sunshine, all the good bits of reggae, soul and psychedelic".

The energetic five piece creates a eclectic sound where classic flavour meets modern groove, peppered with roots and reggae. Often compared to Matt Corby, Fat Freddy’s Drop and The Beautiful Girls, the sweet soulful voices of Cheyne Starkie and Lizzie are complimented by smooth saxophone, psychedelic synthesisers and groove-orientated drums and bass. An honest and charming writing style has served the group well, often resulting in encores and passionate fans in their sunny hometown.

Although a relatively new project, the band lacks no experience. Collectively the members have toured the East Coast of Australia and New Zealand, and have supported the likes of Ocean Alley, Dubmarine and Kora.

Coming off the back of a successful East Coast Tour, spanning from the Sunshine Coast to Melbourne and everywhere in between, The Starktones show no sign of slowing down. The two month tour of their debut single ‘Gone Insane’ was met with an enthusiastic reception from crowds as The Starktones performed to packed out rooms, bringing the party everywhere they played.

Following the release of ‘Gone Insane’, The Starktones have their next release right around the corner. Recorded in Lovestreet Studios with acclaimed producer Scotty French of Cheap Fakes, it’s a highly anticipated release that has been put through its paces in numerous live settings—both on the road and in stripped back settings.
