Seymour Railway Heritage Centre is running a special train to Tocumwal for the Tocumwal Foreshore Markets.

The Tocumwal Foreshore Markets has fresh produce to stylish fashion selections, and gathers visitors from all over NSW and Victoria. Established in 1978, Tocumwal Foreshore Market has been considered a ‘Premium Country Market’ by many of its visitors and stallholders. Exhibitors are offering many interesting and creative products including such items as arts and crafts, woodworks, organic produce, fashion items such as clothes, shoes and accessories, bags, graphic shirts, collectibles, homewares, and a whole lot more.

Visit one of the many local shops, walk along the foreshore and check out the 100 year old historic railway bridge which crosses into New South Wales. Two fantastic optional tours are also avaliable to Koonoomoo’s Big Strawberry and Cobram’s Cobba Paddle Boat.

The Big Strawberry has something for everyone. Enjoy lunch followed by a strawberry desserts. Visit the viewing room, where you can see the jam and wine relishes, chutneys, wines and liqueurs all made on the premises from local produce. The children will love the indoor playground, while the men enjoy can enjoy the man cave area. Following your visit to the Big Strawberry we will visit the award winning Monichino Winery for wine tasting prior to our return.

See the natural beauty of Cobram’s Cobba boat as you meander through a red gum forest thriving with native wildlife. Hear the departure whistle stir the birdlife as the Captain’s commentary plays over the paddle wheels. Enjoy fabulous lunch cruise along the Murray.

Your Heritage Train will be hauled by former Victorian Railways X31 and T378 blue and gold locomotives, and passengers will have the choice of travelling in comfortable 100 year old wooden bodied carriages or former Spirit of Progress steel compartment carriages.

State Carriage 4 was built in 1927 and used on many Royal Trains including Duke & Duchess of York (1927), Queen Elizabeth II (1954), and Prince & Princess of Wales (1988). State No 5, built in 1951 was built for the King & Queen for the Melbourne Olympic Games in 1956 and used exclusively by royalty and state Government Dignitaries.

The beautifully restored 112-year old Yarra Carriage will be on your trip to to Tocumwal. Built at Newport workshops by the Victorian Railways in 1906, Yarra is one of 2 Parlor carriages (the other being “Murray”) which was used on the “Sydney Limited”. Metel ceilings impressed with a arabesque design, decorated leadlight segments overhang the large side windows and a observations platform on the rear.
