Have you really been to Perth if you haven’t been to a Tomás Ford show?

He’s an international party icon and now he’s making a bid to make Lazy Susan’s Comedy Den into Perth’s premiere midweek tourist trap. Having made a name for himself everywhere from Edinburgh to Kalgoorlie to Kuala Lumpur to Christchurch as a globetrotting master of late night, fringe festival, seductively cabaret-style, weird, stupid, comedy fun, Tomás Ford presents his Legendary 2nd Wednesday Floorshow.

Ford’s shows have become the stuff of urban legend in Perth, starting out in punk dives like the Hyde Park Hotel, through becoming a lynchpin of the Fringe World festival and somehow morphing into some kinda glamorous patron saint of Western Australian weirdos and fringe-dwellers.

These trips through Tomás’ own twisted songs and unexpected covers are going to be as much fun for first timers as they will be for die-hard Ford fans. If you've never had the questionable pleasure, Tomás' shows are like this; he croons with his Early-Bryan-Ferry-Meets-Solo-Iggy-Pop-Meets-Non-Racist-Morrissey voice over a musical bed of his pumping synthesizers and drum machines. Your eyes take in his startling backdrop of home-made video projections, a light show cobbled together at a hardware store and a wardrobe of truly ridiculous costumes. That's not even mentioning the wild ride he takes folks on as a performer; it's as silly and hilarious as it is punk-rock. It's the kinda show that couldn’t have come from anywhere but Perth.

Tomás is joined by a different guest from WA’s amazing cabaret scene each month, with the first two months featuring the debut of “Noah Skape presents: Jesus Christ Super Fast” (aka Noah’s condensed version of Jesus Christ Superstar) on May 8 and stylish ukelele cabaret riot-grrl Jamie Mykaela on June 12.

All tickets include a souvenir program and photo (because apparently that’s what tourist traps do). Limited tickets each night. Book now for these super-special shows at Eventfinda.
