Memorabilia to be included in the Toorak Time Capsule is currently being showcased at The Grange Road Egg Shop. The Toorak Time Capsule will be placed in the foundations of 589 Toorak Rd and opened 100 years from now by the Mayor of the local council in 2119.
This project puts the spotlight on local personalities and businesses that have been a part of Toorak community for years. Some of the personalities that are part of the project include Cr Steve Stefanopoulos, Mayor of Stonnington; John Alexander from Alexander’s Cigar Merchants; Bill Green from Toorak Bowling Club; George from Romeo’s of Toorak; and local barber Peter Gilchrist. Memorabilia being added to the Toorak Time Capsule includes a commemorative cigar, a pet collar from Village Vet, artworks from a local artist, contributions from the local schools and more. Visitors can also grab a free copy of Stories of Toorak, a limited-edition publication has been created as part of the project.
