Perth Folk and Roots Club is back for the Arts for Verandah Folk and Roots with Town of Victoria Park support. All are welcome. For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Dilip Parekh fronting Charlie Carters and Oceanique.

‘The Perth Folk and Roots Club welcomes back Dilip Parekh with Charlie Carters and Oceanique on Sunday 10th November which will be our last show for Verandah Folk and Roots in this series’, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

Dilip Parekh is an Indian Irishman from Fremantle who is a singer/songwriter that has established himself as one of Western Australia’s finest songwriters. Dilip is also widely known as the front man for high energy band, Dilip n the Davs. With six recording releases since their formation in 2008, Dilip n the Davs are a Freo favourite playing reggae/ska/funk/grooves that get people moving. Their album titled “Together”, feature guests Nicky Bomba and House of Shem’s Teo Perkins, was well received and had airplay nationally and internationally.

His solo album ‘Better Out Than In’ showcases his more reflective songs in solo mode including musical interpretations of poems by WB Yeats and Herbert Hoover, as well as his own contemporary eclectic folk material. Dilip is currently playing in a new act called Charlie Carters representing a music collective with Blew Drew on harmonica, a well known local musical identity and drums/percussionist Lord Warren of Harvey.

Oceanique, is an Indie Folk duet based in Perth. They have breezy and beautiful story telling lyrics and sibling harmonies fronted by twins, Maddy and Jess Larkman, originally from Walpole WA. This ethereal sound is inspired by the landscape and musicians like Missy Higgins, Stella Donnelly and The Waifs. The duo have tight sibling intuitive harmonies and a Celtic vibe. The pair have been gracing the stages around Perth for 9 months, playing at Mojo’s, 459 Bar, Sonar Room, Beaufort St and the Sewing Room. They are very grateful to have had their song ‘Papier Mache’ played on RTRFM on the out to lunch program and have a single release planned for November.

"The Perth Folk and Roots Club looks forward to the next Verandah Folk and Roots at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts with Dilip Parekh and Charlie Carters and Oceanique," said Keith Anthonisz.
